Emergency Physicians of Tidewater, P.L.C. (EPT) seeks multiple Emergency Physicians to work at Emergency Departments in Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Suffolk, Virginia.

EPT is a group of Emergency Medicine physicians serving seven Emergency Departments (five hospital and two free-standing Emergency Departments) located in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk, Virginia. Facilities include a Level 1 Trauma, tertiary care referral center, and a rural hospital Emergency Department. Members serve as faculty for an Emergency Medicine residency and two fellowships. All facilities have EMR (Electronic Medical Records), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and we utilize MLPs (Mid-level Providers). Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and services to Emergency Department patients at the assigned locations and oversee Emergency Department staff on-duty during shifts including any nurses, residents, or physician assistants;
  • Serve as faculty/lecturer for Emergency Medicine residency and fellowship programs at Eastern Virginia Medical School;
  • Diagnose, treat, and monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary
  • Order and interpret the results of medical tests such as laboratory tests and X-rays
  • Complete all emergency treatments and/or arrange for continuation of each treatment with a succeeding Emergency Physician
  • Complete medical records for all patients treated throughout a shift including: medical history, physical examination results, laboratory reports, X-ray interpretations, and diagnosis and disposition with instructions to patients
  • Follow the directions, instructions, policies, and procedures of EPT with respect to the provision of emergency medical treatment

Clinical shifts will rotate between seven Emergency Departments in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Suffolk, Virginia.

 

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.)
  • Completion of two years' residency in Emergency Medicine
  • Board Eligible (American Board of Emergency Medicine - ABEM) in Emergency Medicine; and
  • Licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the Commonwealth of Virginia
